Who we are
This platform is operated by the ISKCON Marriage Board to help devotees find a suitable partner within Krishna consciousness, and to protect them while they do. It is not a dating service and it is not a public matrimony site.
The Marriage Board introduces devotees. It does not arrange marriages, it does not vouch for anybody's character beyond what verification can establish, and it takes no fee of any kind.
Who may use it
You may register if you are of marriageable age under the law that applies to you, are connected to an ISKCON centre, and have a counselor at that centre who is willing to verify what you write.
One account per person. A parent, guardian or sibling may hold and manage an account on a devotee's behalf, and the bio-data records that they are doing so.
What you tell us must be true
Every answer on a bio-data is read by devotees who will check it. An income, a level of initiation, a marital status or a number of rounds that is not true is discovered at verification, and it costs you the trust of the person who has to vouch for you.
The confidential section exists so that difficult things can be said once, privately, to the Marriage Board — not so that they can be left out.
A bio-data found to be materially false may be refused, withdrawn from publication, or the account suspended.
Review and publication
Nothing you write is visible to another devotee until your counselor has verified it and the Marriage Board has approved it. Either may send it back with a note asking for a correction, or place it on hold pending something specific.
Approval is a judgement, not an entitlement. The Marriage Board may decline to publish a bio-data, and may withdraw one it has published, giving its reason.
How you must behave here
Treat every devotee you meet here as you would in the temple room. Do not harass, deceive, pressure or impersonate anybody, and do not approach a devotee who has declined your interest.
Never send money to anybody you meet through this platform, and never ask for money. No legitimate introduction involves a payment, and a request for one is the single clearest sign of a fraud.
Meet in a public part of the temple, tell your counselor you are meeting, and involve your parents or guardians from the beginning rather than at the end.
Do not copy, export or republish another devotee's bio-data, photographs or contact details, in whole or in part, anywhere.
Contact details and introductions
Your telephone number, email address and postal address are released to another devotee only after both of you have expressed interest and the Marriage Board has released the introduction. Until that moment neither of you has the other's details, whoever you are.
Once details have been released, what happens between two families is between them. The Marriage Board does not chaperone, mediate or take responsibility for a meeting it has introduced.
What you upload stays yours
Your bio-data and your photographs remain yours. You grant us only what is needed to run the platform: to store them, to show them to your counselor and the Marriage Board, and to show them to devotees you are matched with under the visibility rules you have chosen.
Photographs are stored outside the public web and every link to one expires within minutes. We do not use your photographs in any advertisement, and we do not sell or licence anything you upload to anybody.
Privacy
The privacy policy describes what is collected, who can see it, how long it is kept and how to have it removed. It forms part of these terms.
You may download everything held about you, and you may have your account deleted, at any time, from your settings.
Suspension and removal
We may warn, suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms, that puts another devotee at risk, or that the Marriage Board judges to be misusing the platform. Where it is safe and fair to do so, you are told why and may reply.
A report about your conduct reaches a moderator, never the devotee who is the subject of it.
Availability
This is a service run by devotees for devotees. It is offered as it is, without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability, and we may change or withdraw features.
Nothing here limits any liability that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change materially you are asked to read and accept the new version before continuing. The date at the top of this page is when the text below last changed.
How to reach us
Write to the Marriage Board through the contact page. A concern about how your personal information has been handled goes to our Grievance Officer, who is named on the privacy policy.
